Important: ComplaintRate provides complaint rate data for informational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice. We are not a financial adviser and are not regulated by the FCA or any financial regulator. Do not make banking or financial decisions based solely on this data.

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using ComplaintRate.com (“the Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The Site is operated by No Sleep Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Nature of the service

ComplaintRate analyses and presents publicly available data from the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) public complaint database, the FDIC BankFind database, OCC enforcement records, and Federal Reserve enforcement records. All underlying data is produced by US federal agencies and is in the public domain.

Our service normalises this data to produce complaint rates per 1,000 estimated customers, enabling comparison between financial institutions of different sizes. We also compute composite risk scores, trend data, and resolution statistics derived from the same public sources.

No financial advice

ComplaintRate does not provide financial advice. Complaint rate data and risk scores are analytical tools intended to inform your own independent research — they are not recommendations to open, close, or switch any financial account.

Institutions with high complaint rates may still be suitable for many customers. Institutions with low complaint rates may not be suitable for all customers. Always conduct your own research and, where appropriate, seek independent financial advice before making any financial decision.

Where we suggest “recommended” institutions or “safer banks”, this refers solely to their relative federal complaint rate as measured against the CFPB database — it is not a personal financial recommendation tailored to your circumstances.

Data accuracy disclaimer

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of the data presented on this Site. However, we cannot guarantee that all data is current, complete, or free from error. In particular:

  • CFPB complaint data is updated periodically and may not reflect complaints filed in the last 30–90 days
  • Customer base estimates (used to normalise complaint rates) are derived from FDIC deposit data and are approximations, not exact figures
  • Entity resolution (matching complaint data to the correct institution) is performed using automated pipelines and manual mapping; errors may exist
  • Enforcement data from the OCC and Federal Reserve reflects actions recorded in their public databases at the time of our last pipeline run and may not be real-time

If you believe any data on this Site is materially inaccurate, please contact us via /contact and we will investigate.

Intellectual property

The underlying CFPB, FDIC, OCC, and Federal Reserve data is produced by US federal agencies and is in the public domain. Our analysis, normalisation methodology, composite scores, written content, design, and code are the intellectual property of No Sleep Studios Ltd and may not be reproduced, scraped, or redistributed without permission.

If you wish to license our data or methodology for commercial use, contact us via /contact.

Prohibited use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download data from the Site without permission
  • Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our servers or infrastructure
  • Represent our data or scores as your own original work
  • Use our data to harass, defame, or make unsubstantiated claims about any financial institution
  • Misrepresent the meaning or limitations of our complaint rate data

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, No Sleep Studios Ltd shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or reliance on this Site or the data it presents.

We are not liable for any financial loss, missed opportunity, or other harm resulting from banking or financial decisions made with reference to data or scores published on this Site.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of this Site shall not exceed £100.

Affiliate relationships

Some links on this Site to third-party financial products are affiliate links. This means we may receive a commission if you open an account through those links. This does not affect the complaint rate data or risk scores we display — our ratings are based solely on federal data and are not influenced by commercial relationships.

Institutions with affiliate links are labelled, and we only include affiliate links for institutions that independently meet our data thresholds for low complaint rates.

Third-party links

This Site contains links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of those sites. Links are provided for convenience only and do not constitute endorsement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
